Autumn/Winter 09
Inspiration & Colour range
This season the collection has taken inspiration from the cyclist and commuting from the countryside to the city using the fixed gear as our urban bike. As the guys in Brick Lane are bringing polo to their bikes on the streets of the East end, we are bringing tweeds to the city, and interesting technical clothing to the Cyclist. From technical jackets made in Harris tweed to woodland camo trousers, we bring the country to the streets of London with fluo reflective pink piping. Woodland camouflage is used to link our program of planting trees for the future and the recycling of fabrics. The fluorescent orange and reflective details were first launched in Japan by working with recycled Gore-Tex with our Berghaus collaborations. With our shirts we are working with the best fabric supplier in Italy and manufacturing them with one of the UK’s oldest shirt manufacturer’s, mixing luxury in a casual way. So when grabbing a pint after work you don’t need to be standing there in with your lycra’s on. The trousers, jackets and jerseys all feature the reflective piping on the rear for visibility.
Collaborations
The Griffin X Charge fixed gear bike features this season’s cyan blue and white colour pallet and is the first collaborative project we have completed with the bicycle company. Based just a few miles from the Griffin Studio, Charge have surged to the forefront of the urban cycling world, renowned for their domestic named frames such as the duster and juicer, Griffin approached the company to pursue a collaborative project. Cycling is a passion that Jeff and the team in the studio are very much involved in, from borrowing friends bikes when out in Tokyo through to the daily commute. Identifying a gap in the market, we wanted to create a cool looking frame for the urban world. The result; Charge’s signature minimalist frame, the Plug, merged with Griffin distinctive design detailing, we even managed to work in a new Griffin camouflage. The bike has had an excellent reception and all 500 Limited Edition bikes were sold to worldwide bike stockists including Wiggle, Evans and the Cycle Surgery before manufacturing began.

We have developed the range with British mills, quality manufacturing and traditional skills and have created unique distinctive clothing with the GRIFFIN spin.
